Final Season of LOST Image Shows That (Real) Locke is BACK?

Here is a first-look at the official season 6 LOST promotional image, unveiled this past Saturday at Comic Con.

The image is certainly worthy of a fangasm or three -- a throwback to the iconic season 1 promotional poster with the main characters lined up in an almost gladiator/game-like theme. The image also features all of the main characters -- including those lost but not forgotten, such as Charlie, Shannon, Mr. Eko, Boone and more!

The most amazing aspect (for me) has to be the fact that John Locke is at the center of the line-up, with his back facing away from our perspective. Does this signify that (real)Locke will be ‘BACK‘??? Was Jack’s 4th-wall breaking advice not to give up on him right? Or perhaps the farmer-turned-hunter has turned his back on the island, or perhaps, humanity? Seeing as when we left season 5, Anti-Jacob had seemingly completed his plan to quell Jacob and his optimism in mankind.

Another neat aspect to the image are the hieroglyphs, that can be seen inside the “The Final Season” lettering -- obviously a reference to the many Egyptian references littered throughout the series, most recently seen inside the foot of the four-toed statue.

As for the character line-up, from what I can tell it goes like this (left to right): Faraday, Boone, Miles, Michael, Ana-Lucia, Charlotte, Shannon, Desmond, Mr. Eko, Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Locke/Anti-Jacob, Ben, Sayid, Libby, Sun, Jin, Claire, Hurley, Juliet, Charlie, Frank, Richard, Bernard, Rose.

This is very clever marketing from ABC (perhaps with input from the powers that be?). The way they revealed the image at Comic ConĀ  deserves mega props. To have all of the characters appear on screen at once would have been awesome, but to reveal the characters almost one-by-one puzzle-effect, was inspired! The fan reaction was also great:

It seems almost certain that we’ll be seeing the return of many deceased Losties -- in some shape of form -- during the final season. Not only will it give the show its trademark “everything comes back around” but the show will (hopefully) have that air of ‘completeness’.

As if I wasn’t already excited for February 2010..
