The official Undercovers website – www.undercoversweb.com, has been updated, slightly. The landing page now contains two rotating images of a news broadcast reporting the disappearance of the show’s lead characters, Samantha and Steven Bloom (portrayed by Boris Kodjoe). This is obviously aimed at setting the Undercovers premise and gives us some idea as to how Samantha and Steven came to be retired spies, or possibly how they came back into the spy game. Whether or not this will grow into an alternate reality game of sorts remains to be seen.

Zoe Saldana, who played Uhura in JJ. Abrams Star Trek reboot, recently spoke to MTV while promoting Avatar and gave a tiny update on the Trek sequel:
“I spoke to J.J. and Bryan Burk, his producing partner at Bad Robot, and they are still in the middle of building the script with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, and we’ll probably be going into pre-production around this time next year.”
Meanwhile, the movie has been revealed as the most pirated movie of 2009, with well over 10 million downloads, making its box office success all the more remarkable.

JJ. Abrams recently took part in a Q&A with The Hollywood Reporter. Among the things discussed; his lasting bond with Star Trek and his future plans.
The Hollywood Reporter: Was there any part of making “Star Trek” that felt personal?
J.J. Abrams: Quite a bit. It’s a story about family and friendship and loyalty and finding your place and your way and being insecure about any number of things. And that is a universal idea that doesn’t need to take place in space; it can take place anywhere — and that idea feels very personal. I found myself surprisingly connected to a character called James T. Kirk. I found myself loving a character whose name was Spock. And as someone who was never really a “Star Trek” fan and who never really connected with any of the characters, it was the last thing in the world I ever expected.
THR: Do you feel any pressure to direct movies more often?
Abrams: There are so many things that I should not be directing. A lot of times I look at something and I think, “Oh my God, that would be amazing. I would completely f*** that up.” I just know that there are things I probably am not capable of, and then there are other things that I’m not sure if I am, and those are the things that excite me the most. The things that I know I could do are the things that I would probably screw up just as much. When you’re too in your comfort zone, it’s not necessarily the most creative thing. But I hope to direct a movie next year.
THR: And what’s that going to be?
Abrams: It’s just this thing I’m writing right now. It’s taken longer to write the script than I was hoping.

The casting of Gerald McRaney for JJ. Abrams NBC Pilot, Undercovers, has been swiftly followed by the addition of Boris Kodjoe who has landed the male lead, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kodjoe, who appeared in Surragates and is probably best known for his role on Soulfood, will play one half of an undercover spy couple.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, JJ. Abrams looks set to produce a new movie based on “Let the Great World Spin” – a period piece by Colum McCann.
“Spin”, published in June by Random House, is structured around Philippe Petit’s real-life “artistic crime of the century”, in which he illegally walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers in 1974 — a feat Petit called, “le coup”. Spin explores the lives of a group of characters as they struggle in New York.
This seems very different from anything JJ. Abrams has done recently, so it’s a project definitely worth keeping tabs on.

TV Guide talk to Team Darlton about the final season of LOST:
TVGuide.com: With the final season of Lost approaching, what are you feeling?
Carlton Cuse: I think we’re doing something new in this final season narratively, so we have that combination of fear and giddiness. The fear is, oh, what if people don’t like it, what if the audience doesn’t like what we’re doing? The giddiness is, like, we always feel like we have to be bold with our show and if it works, and if people like it as much as we do, we feel like the final season will be a success. When there’s a draw though, we stand by our decisions. We’re not playing it safe in the final season.
Damon Lindelof: I think at this point, the nervousness is more based on how we’re so deep into this season, that by the time the audience sees it, we’re committed to our path. It’s been like that ever since we started premiering in January and February. It’s like it’s too late to turn back now. We’re feeling very confident about executing what our plan was, and that’s all you can ever do.
TVGuide.com: What do you say to fans with such high expectations for your last season?
Cuse: I think it’s like anything in life. I think that you have to have realistic expectations. We’re going to do our best version of the show, but there’s still going to be some mystery and magic and intentionally ambiguous things that emerge at the end of the show. We’re going to answer questions, but at the same time, we’re going to tell the story the way we want to tell it. We feel like, all we can do is make the version of the show that makes Damon and I happy. If we do that, hopefully enough people will like it.
Lindelof: Ditto.
